🗺️ The plan at a glance
Two of Northern Greece's best coastlines in one loop — but now in the smarter order: Thasos island first, then wind down in Kassandra before the drive home — with both hotels kept under €150/night. You finish rested and with the shortest drive of the trip back to Prishtina. Each day below shows its live forecast.
✅ Why this order is better: you wind down in Kassandra before the road, and the home drive (Kassandra→Prishtina ~5.3h) is ~90 km shorter than driving home from the island would have been. The one long day (~6.3h to Thasos) lands on Day 1 when you're fresh and excited.

Day by day
New order: Thasos first, Kassandra last. Day 8 is a built-in buffer so the trip isn't rushed — you can also start home a little early and split the drive with a Thessaloniki or Skopje stop.
☀️ Weather for your trip
Live forecast for each day & location (Open-Meteo, fetched 23 Jun 2026). Strong week overall — low rain, comfortable mid-20s to low-30s. UV is high (8) every day, so sunscreen is non-negotiable.
🌡️ The pattern
Thasos (26–29 Jun)27–29°C, calmer
Halkidiki (30 Jun–4 Jul)28–31°C, breezy
Sea temp (late Jun)~24–25°C 🏊
Rain riskLow all week (0–8%)
💡 What it means for you
Thasos at the start is a touch milder and calmer — ideal for the Marble Beach / Giola snorkel days. Halkidiki later is hotter and windier (good for staying cool, slightly choppier sea). The one watch item is a possible afternoon storm on 1 Jul in Halkidiki — easy to ride out — pool or a long lunch that day.
Forecasts beyond ~10 days carry more uncertainty; re-check 2–3 days before travel. Source: Open-Meteo.

Notes
Hani i Elezit / Blace
KS → NMK
Main A1, 25 km S of Skopje. NMK already covered by your insurance — just pass through.
Bogorodica / Evzoni
NMK → GR
Buy the €50 Greek frontier insurance here. Weekday off-peak 15–25 min; summer weekends 45–90 min — cross before 09:00.
Core problem: Kosovo is not in the Green Card system. Your Kosovo MTPL insurance is not valid outside Kosovo/Albania/(with green card) North Macedonia — and insurers cannot issue a Green Card for a Kosovo-registered car.
The "€50 Bulgaria online Green Card" won't work for your Audi. Those online Green Cards (and the rental "Zone 1 €50") only cover vehicles registered in a Green Card country. A Kosovo-plated A7 can't be added — don't buy it expecting cover.
Your situation: NMK already covered, just buy Greek cover
You already have North Macedonia covered through your existing insurance, so the only thing to buy is Greek frontier insurance for the A7 — a flat €50. It's sold in a booth at the Bogorodica/Evzoni crossing (cash EUR, cards often accepted).

Greek frontier (border) insurance for the A7

Covers your full trip window — buy it at the booth on the way in, keep the certificate in the car.
Before you leave, do these 3 things:
1 · NMK already covered ✅ — nothing to buy at the first border2 · Buy Greek frontier insurance at Evzoni — €50 flat3 · Carry ORIGINAL docs (registration, ID, license) — copies rejected
Why it matters: uninsured in Greece = personally liable for all third-party damage, and police do check. Same Green-Card gap that forced your Puglia fly-and-rent switch — the difference is that on a land route through NMK→Greece you can buy frontier cover at the booth, which isn't possible when ferrying/flying into Italy.

🏨 Halkidiki — 3 nights (Kassandra, LAST stop)
Your relaxed finish before the drive home — now filtered to a hard €150/night cap and ranked by recent (2025–26) review quality, not just star rating. Live Google Hotels prices for 29 Jun–2 Jul, 2 adults; TripAdvisor for review depth.
✅ Top pick: Hotel Atrium (€329/3 nts). It has the deepest current review record of any budget hotel — multiple 5★ reviews dated 21 June 2026 across 1,361 reviews. You know exactly what you're getting right now, not from a 2019 review.

🏝️ Thasos — 3 island nights (FIRST stop)
Filtered to a hard €150/night cap and vetted on recent reviews. Live Google Hotels prices for 26–29 Jun, 2 adults; TripAdvisor for review depth. Base near Limenas (north) for ferry + Marble/Golden beaches, or Golden Beach itself for the easiest swimming.
✅ Top pick: Ocean Beach Hotel (€396/3 nts). The only sub-€150 Thasos hotel holding a 4.8 across ~400 reviews — a proper 4-star right on Golden Beach, the island's best easy beach. Beats the old Alexandra Golden plan on price and sits on the same beach.
Bring the A7 on the ferry — having your own car is a big advantage since the best beaches (Marble, Giola, Aliki) are spread out and several need a vehicle. Many rental cars aren't allowed on the ferry at all.

🌊 The beaches
Real TripAdvisor photos, ratings & review counts. Note: some of Thasos's most beautiful beaches (Marble) score lower purely from crowds & the rough access road — still stunning, just go early.
🏖️ Halkidiki (day trips from Kassandra)
🏝️ Thasos — the island's best
Beach-bar pricing on Thasos: most organised beaches run minimum-spend (~€15–30 per 2 sunbeds + umbrella; up to €40–50 at Marble/Porto Vathy in peak). Bring your own shade for the cheap, flexible option.
Overall: low risk. Greece holds the lowest-tier (Level 1) advisory — "exercise normal precautions." Northern Greece is calm and tourist-friendly. No warnings affecting your route. (Checked 23 Jun 2026.)
☀️ Heat & wildfires
Late-June heat can hit 30°C+; Halkidiki had midday outdoor-work bans during 2025 heatwaves. Wildfire season Apr–Oct. Enable phone emergency alerts (112), confirm AC, do beaches morning/late afternoon, hydrate. Lighting any fire is a criminal offence even if accidental.
🚗 Driving
Greek driving is more aggressive than the EU norm; island roads narrow & winding. The Marble Beach dirt road is rough — fine for the A7 but you'll collect white dust. Headlights on in daytime, carry the mandatory kit.
🎒 Petty theft
Pickpocketing in crowds; thieves target parked cars/accommodation for passports & valuables. Don't leave anything visible in the A7, especially at beach/trailhead car parks (Giola, Marble).
⛴️ Ferry & weather
Strong winds can pause sailings — check the live ship map / Port Authority if weather looks rough. Keep a buffer on the Day 9 return ferry.
Border timing (your route)
NMK↔Greece at Bogorodica/Evzoni: weekdays 15–25 min, summer weekends 45–90 min (Sat afternoon worst). Your outbound is Friday and return Saturday — cross before 09:00 both ways.
